Today was the day our kids have waited eagerly (and not so patiently) for since probably Thanksgiving. Each year, the husband decorates Gingerbread Houses with the kids. Some years, it's more than houses. Sometimes we have little villages! A few years ago, Thing 2 even had a Scooby Doo themed house.
The husband'ss been decorating Gingerbread Houses since before we had kids. This is actually his 10th year doing them! The first few years he even MADE the walls and roof of the houses with actual cookie dough that he baked and shaped. That being a lot of unnecessary work, he then switched over to the house kits that they sell. Of course, in ever G-style, he still has to go out and buy all the "extras" himself. The candies that come with the kits are never enough for him! ; )
Cousin has been joining us for the past few years too. We think he looks forward to it just as much as our kids. And soon Nicholas will have his own house too!
Thing 3loves decorating her house! She looks forward to it every year...and she's been doing it since she was 2! Needless to say, her designs have improved greatly!
This is so not my thing. It's the husband's. But this year, I got into it a little bit. Very little. I get very frustrated, very easily. Especially when my 6 year old can't make up his mind with what he wants! (Though he has no problem telling others what they should do! Guess he's more the supervisory-type.)
Cousin did a great job on his house. His Mommy helped a little towards the end. (See the pretty wreath J9 made? Next year, she said, she'd like her own house!)
Thing 3 napped while the big kids worked on their houses. It was just easier that way. But then we got him up and he went to town on his house. He had a lot of fun and is very proud of his creation.
